Connecting and using the hose

Insert the hose into the hose port of your hookah and check that the rubber seal fits properly. Then screw the aluminum mouthpiece onto the other end. Test it without coals to check the airflow.

Don't pack your hookah tobacco bowl too tightly. Use foil with holes, or a kaloud or metal chimney for better heat distribution. Fully heat your coals before placing them and wait a few minutes before the first puff.

Cleaning and maintenance

A big advantage of silicone over other materials: you can simply wash the hose. Do this after every session, or at least when you switch flavors so that flavors don't influence each other. Rinse the hose with warm water. Add a few drops of dish soap for stubborn odors, shake the water well through the hose, and then rinse thoroughly with clean water. Hang the hose upright or lay it open so it can dry thoroughly inside. Only use it again when it is completely dry - otherwise mold can grow inside.

The right coals for your session

A good hookah hose is only half the story. The coals largely determine how your session tastes. Preferably use natural coals for hookah. They burn longer, provide more even heat, and leave less aftertaste than quick-lighting coals. Always fully heat your coals on a shisha coal burner until all sides glow well.
