Paradise Love 99 200g - Shisha Steam Stones with Melon, Passion Fruit and Peppermint

Paradise Love 99: a mix of melons, passion fruit and peppermint in a 200 gram tub of steam stones. Search online for Paradise and you soon come across this name. That is not so strange, because Love 99 combines two things many shisha smokers look for: juicy fruit and a fresh finish.

What does Paradise Love 99 taste like?

The melon mix forms the heart of the flavor. It is sweet and juicy without getting sticky. Passion fruit lays a tropical layer on top, with that typical fragrant tang you also know from the fruit itself. The peppermint comes last. It freshens your mouth and makes sure the next draw starts just as light as the first.

Why melon and passion fruit go so well together

Melon is mild: sweet, juicy and a little watery in character. Passion fruit is the opposite, with a pronounced scent and a clear tang. Together they complement each other. The melon takes the sharp edges off the passion fruit, and the passion fruit gives the melon more depth. That keeps Love 99 from getting boring quickly, even if you smoke it for a whole session.

Peppermint or menthol: what is the difference?

Many Paradise flavors work with menthol, but Love 99 uses peppermint. That is a real difference. Menthol mainly gives a cool sensation, whereas peppermint actually tastes of mint. So with Love 99 you taste a herbal mint flavor besides the cooling, which contrasts nicely with the sweet fruit. If you like regular mint in a shisha, this flavor suits you well.

Steam stones from a Dutch brand

Behind Paradise is Paradise Supplies B.V., a company from the Netherlands. Instead of tobacco leaf, the brand uses small mineral granules that it lets absorb its own blend of molasses and flavorings. So you smoke Love 99 without tobacco, and the nicotine content is 0 mg. The brand states that the flavors were developed with the help of shisha lounge owners, and it encourages you to combine them with each other too.

Which bowl do you use for Love 99?

Steam stones fit almost any bowl, but the material does make a difference. A glazed ceramic or porcelain bowl does not absorb flavor, which is handy if you switch often. Take a look at the ceramic and porcelain hookah bowls for that. Sprinkle the granules in loosely to just below the rim and leave a little room under the foil or the heat management device.

Put two or three coconut coals on the bowl and move them with hookah tongs if the heat pulls too much to one side. Let the bowl come up to temperature for a few minutes before you take the first real draw.

How does the peppermint stay fresh?

Mint is sensitive to heat. If the bowl gets too warm, the mint first turns flat and then harsh, and the fruit loses its juiciness. So rather keep a few coals less on the bowl than too many. If you notice the vapor getting thin, that is the moment to move a coal closer to the center. That way the balance between fruit and freshness holds up for the whole session.

Mixing with Love 99

Love 99 is already a mix on its own, but you can extend it well. Want more melon? Combine it with Paradise Moonshine: there it is all about honeydew melon with ice. For extra passion fruit, Paradise Bumble B fits, where that fruit meets wild berries and menthol. Fill the bowl half and half, so the flavors stay apart and you can adjust per session.

How to store an opened tub

Never leave the lid open between two sessions. Steam stones live off their moisture, and a tub that stays open slowly dries out. A cupboard or drawer at room temperature, out of the sun, is the best place. Use a dry spoon when scooping, so no water or dirt gets into the tub.

Who is Love 99 for?
