Why special shisha foil?
Shisha foil is thicker than kitchen foil and can better withstand the heat from the coals, preventing it from tearing easily.
How many holes should I make?
Start with a ring along the edge and a few in the middle. More holes provide more airflow and heat.
Foil or a heat management device?
Foil is cheap but you have to puncture it every time. An HMD gives more control over the heat and replaces the foil.
Which side of the foil goes up?
The shiny side up, stretched tightly over your filled hookah bowl.
My shisha is hard to draw, now what?
Make a few more holes for more airflow.
Why does my shisha taste burnt?
Often there are too many coals or too many holes. Use less heat or make fewer holes.
Can I use two layers of foil?
Yes, two layers provide extra sturdiness and are less likely to break.
