For which bowls is this foil suitable?

The foil works with almost all common hookah bowls:

• Clay bowls - traditional shape, same method

• Glass bowls - works fine, especially with an extra layer of foil
• Hot screen bowls from brands like Amy Deluxe and Dum - the foil also fits here and provides stable heat distribution

In short: if you have a round bowl with a rim, this foil will fit. The only exception is a phunnel bowl where you need to place the foil differently due to the central opening, but even there, this foil works well.

How to use aluminum foil with your hookah

Loosely fill your shisha bowl with shisha tobacco just below the rim. Do not pack it down – air circulation is important. Then place a sheet of foil over the top and fold the edge tightly. Two layers are better than one: more heat control and less risk of a bitter smoke cloud.

Next, place your glowing hookah coals on the foil. Start with 2 to 3 coals on the edge of the foil, not in the center. This prevents the tobacco from burning too quickly. Slide the coals in as the heat decreases.

Combining with a Kaloud or wind cover

Want even more control? Use the foil together with a Kaloud or metal chimney. The foil forms the seal between the bowl and the Kaloud's grate. Air flows through the holes through the tobacco, the Kaloud retains heat, and protects the coals from wind. You'll then only need 2 coals.

Which coals work best?

Hookah natural coals provide more stable heat than quick-light coals and last longer. Good choices are Tom Coco coals, Black Coco coals, and Babylon coals. Quick-light coals also work but can sometimes give a slight aftertaste. For the best shisha session, coconut coals are the smartest choice.
