The MRA Phunnel Bowl is a ceramic hookah tobacco head with a phunnel design. In a phunnel bowl, the air hole is not in the bottom but in a small pipe in the center of the head. This keeps the juice from your shisha tobacco in the head instead of draining down. That juice provides flavor and vapor. The result is a longer session, more smoke, and a fuller feeling with every draw. The foil or heat management device does not touch the tobacco, allowing air to flow freely. Regular shisha smokers will immediately notice the difference compared to a regular head.

Each MRA Phunnel Bowl is handmade from ceramic and then hand-painted. This makes each head slightly different. The head is available in six colors: blue, green, red, black, yellow, and orange.

Why a phunnel bowl?

A regular shisha tobacco head has holes in the bottom. This allows the juice from the tobacco to run directly into the hookah. With the phunnel bowl, there is a central pipe in the middle. Air goes down through that pipe, but the juice stays in the head. This way, the tobacco retains its flavor and vapor longer. Less tobacco, longer session, better taste. The MRA Phunnel Bowl combines this design with sturdy ceramic that retains heat well.

Suitable for Kaloud, Hot Screen, and aluminum foil

The head works well with a Kaloud or metal chimney. A Kaloud or Hot Pan fits on the rim of the head and distributes the heat from the coals evenly. This makes the coals burn longer and requires less turning. Do you want to work classically with aluminum foil? Stretch the foil tightly over the head, poke even holes, and place the coals on top. With each of these methods, you get the best out of the MRA Phunnel Bowl.

The right shisha tobacco and coals

The MRA Phunnel Bowl works well with wet shisha flavors that have a lot of juice. That juice stays in the head and burns slowly, which ensures dense, smooth smoke. Always use natural coals for the best result. Quick-lighting coals burn hotter and more unevenly, which quickly leads to a burnt taste with a phunnel bowl. Good hookah and shisha natural coals burn longer and give a pure taste. Light the coals properly with a shisha coal burner until they glow on all sides. Start with two coals and add a third if necessary for more draw.

Cleaning and maintenance

Rinse the head with warm water after each session. Do not use dish soap if the head is unglazed, as soap will then absorb into the porous ceramic. Let the head dry thoroughly before storing it. Are there burnt tobacco residues in the chamber? Soak the head in warm water for half an hour and remove the residues with a soft brush. Be careful with hard knocks: ceramic breaks easily with a tap on the rim.
