Panoramix C Base Black by Khan Al Khalily: colour and sturdiness in one

Looking for a replacement base that goes with everything? This Panoramix C base in black combines black and white in calm stripes that suit any hose or bowl. It is intended for the Khan Al Khalily Panoramix C, so your hookah is completely whole again after the replacement. The second photo shows how such a base sits on the hookah; the stripe pattern differs slightly per piece.

What is in the box?

You receive one loose glass base. Stem, grommet and other parts are not included; you already have those on your Panoramix C. Check the base for transport damage after unpacking before you fill it.

What the base looks like

The base has the typical shape of the Panoramix C: a wide, flat foot that stands steadily, shoulders that slope upwards and a short, narrow neck with a rim at the top. In the clear glass you see black and white stripes running from the neck down to the foot. As a result the base looks different from every side, while you can still see the water and the smoke between the stripes.

Why does it only fit the Panoramix C?

Hookah bases differ in height, neck opening and the length of the downstem that has to go in. This base is matched specifically to the Panoramix C, and the supplier clearly states that it does not fit other models. If you have a different hookah, have a look at our other bases.

No grommet included

Loose bases are sold without a grommet. Often you can simply reuse the grommet from your old base, as long as it is supple and intact. If it has hardened or torn, you will find a replacement among our hookah grommets. A good grommet keeps your hookah airtight, and you notice that straight away in the draw.

How to fit the new base

1. Take the stem out of the old base and carefully clear up any shards.
2. Check the grommet and replace it if it is hard, torn or deformed.
3. Push the stem straight into the new base with a small twisting motion.
4. Fill the base with water and check that the hookah is airtight by drawing on the hose with a hand on the bowl.

How much water?

Let the downstem reach about two centimetres into the water. That keeps the draw light and cools the smoke well. With more water you draw harder, with less water you hear little bubbling and the smoke gets warmer.

Keeping it clean

Empty the base after every session and rinse it with warm water. Use a bottle brush for the bottom and the corners. We advise against the dishwasher. If you want to remove stubborn deposits, use a cleaning product made specially for hookahs.

Stop it from breaking again

Always carry your hookah by the base, not by the stem. Place it on a sturdy, flat surface and put a rubber base protector under it if you like. Do not pour hot water into cold glass: sudden temperature differences can cause cracks.

Striped glass: beautiful and practical

The coloured stripes give the base a lively look, but between the stripes the glass stays transparent. That way you can still see how high the water is and how the smoke bubbles through the base. That is handy, because the right water level largely determines how smoothly your hookah draws. With a fully coloured base you have to guess much more.

Switch colours

You can choose from four colours: blue, green, red and black. Many smokers buy a second colour to alternate, for example with a different hose. With a few drops of colouring liquid for the base you also give the water a tint.
