How to use coconut coals for the best session

Fully heat the coals before placing them on the bowl or foil. Use an electric coal burner and heat the coals until they glow orange evenly on all sides. Black spots mean the coals are not yet ready. Only then place the coals on the Kaloud or metal chimney. Do this outdoors or near an open window, as coconut coals briefly emit a small amount of smoke when lit.

Rotate the coals halfway through the session for even heat and tap off excess ash with hookah tongs. Two or three coals usually provide enough heat for a 45 to 60-minute session, depending on how strongly you pull and which bowl you use. Start with two coals and add a third if the smoke becomes thinner.

Maintenance and cleaning

Coconut coals leave little ash, which makes cleaning your hookah easier. After the session, tap the ash out of the bowl and rinse it with water.
