What's in the set?

The set consists of two parts. First, the clay tobacco head: unglazed, with a deep bowl and 12 air holes on the side for smooth airflow. The deep bowl keeps the screen away from the flavor, preventing burning. Dimensions: approximately 5.5 cm wide, 9 cm high, and 1.9 cm deep. It holds 25 to 30 grams of flavor – enough for an extensive session.

Second, the Hot Screen: a metal attachment with an iron grate for the hookah coals and a chimney pipe in the middle that expels excess heat. This keeps the temperature stable throughout the session without you having to move the coals.

Hot Screen versus aluminum foil

Foil works fine but tears easily and is only for single use. The Hot Screen is reusable and regulates heat better. The coals rest on the metal grate, which distributes the heat evenly over the head. Usage: how it works in practice

Loosely fill the clay hookah tobacco head with flavor just below the rim. Place the Hot Screen on top and put two or three thoroughly burned hookah natural coals on the grate. The heat draws from the grate down to the flavor; the chimney expels the excess.

Always use fully burned coals. Half-cooked coals give a bitter aftertaste. Allow coals to heat for 8 to 10 minutes on a shisha coal burner until they glow orange all around.

Cleaning and maintenance

After use, rinse the clay tobacco head upside down with warm water. No soap: clay is porous and absorbs soap, which you will taste next time. Let the head dry completely before storing to prevent mold formation. Clean the Hot Screen with a dry cloth or soft brush. Coal residues are easiest to remove while the head is still warm. Which coals are best?

Use hookah natural coals: they burn longer, provide more stable heat, and do not affect the flavor. Quick-lighting coals are easier to light but burn shorter and sometimes give an aftertaste. Tom Coco and Black Coco are reliable choices. Place two coals on the grate for an average session, three if you have loaded the head full and want a longer evening.
