This prevents the coals from directly touching the shisha tobacco, keeping them at the correct height and distance. Setup: how do you do it?

Loosely fill the glass bowl with shisha tobacco, just below the rim. Do not press the tobacco, as this can make it more difficult for air to pass through. Place the Kaloud HMD on top. Light two or three coconut coals and let them fully glow before placing them in the HMD. Then wait two to three minutes before you start drawing, so the tobacco can warm up slowly.

The silicone base at the bottom of the glass bowl provides grip on the shaft of your shisha and ensures that the bowl sits securely. In most cases, you don't need an extra rubber ring, but the fit varies per hookah.

Combine the bowl with a good hookah hose and your own loose mouthpieces for a complete setup.

Cleaning and maintenance

Glass is easy to clean. The only thing you need to watch out for is the temperature difference. Never place the bowl directly in cold water if it is still warm. Glass that goes from hot to cold quickly can break. Let the bowl cool down completely after a session, then rinse it with lukewarm water. Soak stubborn residue for a few minutes in warm water with a little dish soap.

The best coals for an HMD

For a heat management device, it is best to use coconut charcoal. These burn evenly and provide constant heat without an aftertaste. Quick-light coals are less suitable for the Kaloud, as they quickly become too hot and can scorch the tobacco.
