Never use firelighters, methylated spirits, petrol, or an open flame from a candle to light the coals. This creates a harmful chemical taste and is dangerous. With a good coal burner, you will never have that problem.

Always use a coal holder or tongs when moving hot coals. Never touch them with your hands. A hookah tong is indispensable for this.

Cleaning and maintenance
