How to use Black Coco's C26 coals?

Coconut coals cannot be lit with a lighter. You need an electric coal burner or gas burner. Place the coals on the burner and wait until they are fully glowing - you'll recognize this when the coals are glowing orange and there are no more black spots on them. This usually takes 8 to 12 minutes, depending on your burner.

Then use hookah tongs to place the coals on the bowl. Place them on the edge of the bowl for less heat, or slightly more towards the center for more heat. Cover the bowl with aluminum foil or use a heat management device like a Kaloud.

Flip the coals halfway through the session for an even burn. This extends the effective burn time and prevents uneven heating.

Which tobacco bowl fits?

With 26 mm coals, you'll work well on most standard bowls. For phunnel bowls, two C26 coals on the rim are the classic setup. On smaller ceramic tobacco bowls, a single coal or smaller coals like the C22 sometimes work better.

Storage and safety

Store the coals dry. Damp coconut coals are harder to light and burn less evenly. A closed box in a dry place is ideal. Use the original packaging or an airtight container.

Always use the coals in a well-ventilated area. Burning coals produce carbon monoxide. Never smoke in an enclosed space without sufficient fresh air.
